Simmons & Simmons has poached an Islamic finance specialist from Norton Rose as it looks to capitalise on the growing demand for sharia-compliant products.
Associate Muneer Khan will join Simmons as a partner in its Dubai office next month (August). He will work with Abu Dhabi managing partner Ibrahim Muybadeen.
Jeremy Hoyland, head of international financial markets, told The Lawyer: "The Islamic finance market is buoyant with new products developing all the time. We need to be at the forefront of this market and Muneer's appointment will help us achieve that goal."
Khan specialises in structured finance and investment funds, with a particular focus on sharia-compliant real estate investment structures. He joined Norton Rose in 2004.
