Simmons finance pitch wins over Bear Stearns

Simmons & Simmons has won a competitive pitch to advise Bear Stearns on its European structured capital markets business.

The appointment will see Simmons advise on all aspects of Bear Stearns' capital markets business, including securitised equity and credit and fixed-income derivatives.

Jeremy Hoyland, head of Simmons' financial markets department and the Bear Stearns relationship partner, said: "Prior to this tender, Bear Stearns was one of the few leading global investment banks that we didn't regularly advise.

"We're enjoying working with the team on a wide range of structured transactions and look forward to further developing the relationship."

Bill McGowan, head of legal at Bear Stearns, told The Lawyer: "We were impressed with the team Simmons & Simmons put forward to work with us. They listened to what was important to the businesses and the lawyers here and we're very pleased with how the relationship is developing."

Simmons' other investment banking clients include ABN Amro, Barclays Capital, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley and Royal Bank of Scotland.
