Simmons & Simmons is continuing to ramp up its mainland China practice with the appointment of Minter Ellison’s former managing partner to its Shanghai office.
Australian John Cole joins the corporate team as a consultant. Cole’s experience runs to construction, M&A, insurance and general corporate matters, and clients include financial institutions, power producers and project developers.
The appointment follows Simmons’ general push to increase its hold on mainland China.
A spokesman for Simmons commented on the strategy. “We’re seeking to increase our reputation in Shanghai and Cole is our seventh lateral hire in seven months,” he said.
