Simmons & Simmons is set to give its finance department a major boost with a group of partners and former partners from Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP).
Property finance specialists John Hayward and Mark Waghorn, who both left BLP earlier this year (21 April 2011), are set to make the move to Simmons.
It is understood that at least two and perhaps three further BLP partners specialising in finance and corporate work could also join Simmons.
Sources close to BLP suggest that the moves relate to an overhaul within the finance group, led by practice head Matthew Kellett. This has seen the firm bring in new blood, including Alexander Keepin from Charles Russell and former Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker partner Keith Wilson (14 April 2011) and Nick Kynoch from Mayer Brown (12 May 2011), leaving some senior partners questioning their place within the firm.
