Simmons adds De Brauw veteran to Dutch partnership
Simmons & Simmons has appointed a partner from Dutch firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek to its financial markets group in Amsterdam.
Rutger de Witt Wijnen, who joins today, was previously head of the energy practice at De Brauw, where he spent 22 years. He specialises in banking, cross-border leasing, climate change and carbon trading.
De Witt Wijnen will focus on Simmons’ offering in its financial institutions and energy and infrastructure sectors, building the firm’s international climate change practice.
He said that the motivation for his move was the desire to develop his practice at an international law firm.
Gerhard Gispen, Netherlands country head at Simmons, said: “Rutger’s experience and track record is widely acknowledged, and this is a significant appointment for the Amsterdam office.”
