Manx firm Simcocks had a 'reasonably busy' year, according to chief executive Phil Games. The firm's fee-earner and director (partner) headcount remained static. Although director Robert Lindley left Simcocks to join Appleby in Cayman as a senior associate, the firm appointed corporate and private client lawyer Amy Coole as a director.
Litigation lawyer Elizabeth Simpson also joined, from Appleby.
Strategically, Simcocks put a focus on international work. Corporate and commercial head Irini Newby went on an Isle of Man government-led delegation to Beijing and Shanghai, and Games followed this by visiting Hong Kong and Shanghai to develop relationships.
Simcocks' association with British Virgin Islands firm Samuels Richard & Co continues and this side of the business is also growing, with a number of instructions for trust and corporate services companies.
