The Solicitors Indemnity Fund (SIF) has recruited former Davies Arnold Cooper managing partner David McIntosh as chair. McIntosh has been appointed to replace Paul Marsh, who recently retired from the SIF board. His appointment comes as the SIF prepares to start returning £25.1m in contributions to the profession. The payment, which must be madebefore 30 September, is the second and final instalment following the direction made by the Law Society Council in September 2005. The fund was closed to new business when solicitors' professional indemnity was put on the open market in September 2000 and started to gain a significant surplus in 2004.
