Engineering and technology services company Siemens has hired a Vodafone lawyer as its next legal chief.
Claire Carless has been appointed as UK general counsel and company secretary, replacing the retiring Gerard Gent.
Carless joins from Vodafone, following a career in domestic and international roles in private practice and in-house at National Power.
While at Vodafone, Carless, who is also a trustee of charity LawWorks, did pro-bono work for a children’s playground in Elephant and Castle, helping to set up an association as a limited liability company.
Siemens CEO Roland Aurich said: “I’m delighted that Claire Carless has joined us as our general counsel. It’s a fascinating time for our company as we consolidate and grow our UK business.”
Gent had been UK legal head at Siemens since 1996.
