Sidley Austin is sending its former New York head George Petrow to the City on a permanent basis to take charge of its European operations.
Staff have been told that Petrow, who is a member of the firm’s management committee, will be in the firm’s London office on a full-time basis, taking particular responsibility for Sidley’s European offices.
‘‘With George’s move, the firm will have members of the management committee resident in, and responsible for, our offices in both the Asia/Pacific and London/European regions,” said Drew Scott, who will remain managing partner of the firm’s London office.
The City office, which saw revenue increase by 5.5 per cent last year (15 March 2012), hired former Linklater’s partner Stephen Blackshaw earlier this year (21 February 2012).
