Sidley Austin has hiked revenues by 7.4 per cent for the past financial year.

Sidley, the latest US firm to announce its 2008 results, posted an increase in revenue in 2008 from $1.38bn up to $1.48bn. Average profit details are not yet available.

Last year, Sidley made significant investment into its partnership, promoting 34 lawyers worldwide including four in Asia and one in London (7 July 2009).

In the UK the firm also ramped up its hedge fund and financial markets capabilities, snaring SJ Berwin partner Bruce Gardner last April.

But last month The Lawyer reported that Sidley had laid off its first real estate finance partner in London since the global financial crisis savaged the practice area (4 April 2009).
