Sidley opens in Sydney

US firm Sidley Austin has poached a managing partner from a local Sydney firm to head its new office in the Australian business centre.
Bob Meyers, who is currently the managing partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, will head Sidley's sixth office in the Asia-Pacific region.
The firm currently has presences in Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Beijing and Singapore.
Meyers will join the corporate finance and capital markets practice, which operates in 11 offices globally. The new office will open on 1 May.
The firm is keen to advance its reach into Asia and respond to demand and increased activity in the Australian market.
