Sidley expands Asian presence on executive committee

Sidley Austin has added two Asia-based partners to its executive committee, bringing the total number of Asia-based executive committee members to five.

Partner Matthew Sheridan, who divides his time between Hong Kong and Singapore, is co-head of the firm’s international corporate finance practice in Asia Pacific. He also serves as China chair of the practice development committee.

Hong Kong-based partner Effie Vasilopoulos is head of the firm’s regional investment funds practice. She has worked on a number of ground-breaking transactions and has over 20 years of experience.

They join Hong Kong partners Thomas Albrecht and Constance Choy and Tokyo partner Tomoo Nishikawa as Asia Pacific representatives on the executive committee.

Albrecht, who is also Sidley’s Asia Pacific managing partner, said in a statement that these appointments reflect the firm’s commitment to continued growth throughout Asia Pacific, and the two new members will be key contributors as the firm implements its strategic plan for the region.

The two Asia-based partners are among six new appointments for the executive committee, which now has 49 members globally. All four other new members are based in the US.
