Shoosmiths has continued its push into the competitive Birmingham market by making three lateral hires from Eversheds, Wragge & Co and DLA Piper.

The hires come one month after property litigation partner Darren Clegg was poached from Wragges.

Shoosmiths’ recent trawl includes one partner and two assistant solicitors, taking the Birmingham headcount to 14 partners and 85 staff. In the last 18 months the firm has been aggressively expanding, with 14 lateral hires.

Former Eversheds senior associate Alastair Peet joins as a partner. He brings expertise in M&A, as does Emma Dolphin from Wragges. Lucy Clark from DLA Piper joins the IP/IT team.

Shoosmiths has a history of poaching from Eversheds’ Birmingham office. It hired former retail property head Simon Boss and his associates last year.

The firm’s head of corporate Oliver Brookshaw said that the Birmingham office would continue to grow its commercial, corporate and banking teams.
