Shoosmithshas promoted 10 to the partnership, increasing its partner count to more than 100 for the first time.
The promotions comprise two each for commercial property and legal expenses and one each for banking, construction, corporate, employment, dispute resolution and property litigation.
The promotional round is up on last year’s, when the firm promoted six associates to the partnership (three in corporate, two in litigation and one in real estate), but matches the number promoted in the 2004-05 and 2005-06 financial years.
The new group will be promoted on 1 May and increases the partnership to 105.
This figure takes into account the retirement of property partner Anthony Price and employment partner Peter Ellis. In addition, partner John Spencer is stepping down from his role as head of the firm’s legal expenses operation in May and is leaving the partnership in October. He hands over leadership of the Basingstoke-based operation to partner Judith Dorkins.
The new partners are: Vaqas Farooq and Michael Higgin (commercial property), Amanda Glover and Lois McCaughey (legal expenses), Kirsty Clarke (banking), Andrew Mason (construction), Sian Sadler (corporate), Stuart Montgomery (dispute resolution), Helen Jess (employment) and Tim Brookes (property litigation).
In addition, 18 lawyers have been promoted to associate level or equivalent.
