Newly-merged firm Reed Smith Warner Cranston is taking on another partner from Shoosmiths to boost its Coventry-based corporate practice.
David Cranfield is joining from Shoosmiths' Northampton office, where he had worked closely with former partner Chris Hill, who left Shoosmiths for Reed Smith in January (The Lawyer, 15 January).
Cranfield specialises in corporate finance and banking work, including management buyouts, joint ventures and e-commerce contracts.
The pair are the only two partners in Reed Smith's Coventry corporate practice, although the office also boasts four property partners and two litigation partners.
Head of the property practice in Coventry David Hayes says: "Basically, before the tie-up with Reed Smith, we were essentially a City firm with a Midlands office. Now we're the UK offices of Reed Smith. All the practice areas in London are now replicated in Coventry."
