Shoosmiths hires Halliwells team for Manchester corporate launch

Shoosmiths has continued the expansion of its Manchester office with the arrival of a three-strong corporate team from Halliwells.

Partner Mark Dawson, who specialises in private equity investment, management buy-ins/buy-outs, and M&A, joins the firm alongside associates Karen Procter and Alex Laver.

Shoosmiths chairman Andrew Tubbs said: “This recruitment is in line with the firm’s strategy of growing the Manchester office to full service from our initial focus on services for lenders and more recently, on our consumer services with the appointment of personal injury partner Debra Woolfson.”

Woolfson arrived at the firm in April (26 April 2010), while earlier this month the firm named Harold Brako as head of Manchester, taking over from Waine Mannix. Mannix had previously split his time between Manchester and Northampton.

Since Halliwells filed notice of its intent to appoint an administrator last month, former staff have joined firms including Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, HBJ Gately Wareing, Hill Dickinson and DWF (26 July 2010).
