Shepherd + Wedderburn wins F&C adviser role

F&C Asset Management, one of the five largest asset managers in the UK, has added Scottish firm Shepherd + Wedderburn to its legal roster.

The appointment follows the merger last October of F&C (formerly Foreign & Colonial) and Isis Asset Management to form a new company with around £118bn under management.

F&C's legal department, headed by Gillian Switalski, turned to Shepherd + Wedderburn because of the firm's historic relationship with Isis. The firm has been retained to advise F&C on Scottish work.

The merger between F&C and Isis is not likely to lead to any further changes to the company's legal panel, as the two legacy companies have historically instructed similar firms.

F&C's other advisers comprise Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, McDermott Will & Emery, Norton Rose and Simmons & Simmons.
