US firm Shearman & Sterling is relocating another top partner into its California office, continuing the West Coast expansion it began last month.
Bruce Czachor, a partner in the firm's Toronto office, will be joint managing partner of the firm's office in Menlo Park. He is a corporate finance and M&A lawyer with an impressive client list including investment banks Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley.
Czachor joins Peter Lyons, head of the firm's worldwide M&A group, and corporate finance partners Danielle Carbone and Marc Rossell, who moved in June. Carbone represents issuers and underwriters on high-tech deals, while Rossell works on international securities offerings and IPOs (The Lawyer, 19 June).
Ten associates will also move to the Silicon Valley practices in San Francisco and Menlo Park.
Shearman & Sterling senior partner Stephen Volk says: "Silicon Valley is a major world capital, and a significant presence there is a key component of our global strategy."
While in Toronto, Czachor has seen the office triple in both size and revenue.
