Shearman beefs up energy practice with addition of Ashurst partner

Ashurst is set to lose heavyweight City projects partner John Inglis to Shearman & Sterling in a move by the US firm to bolster its energy and resources practice.

Inglis, who has a sizeable Middle Eastern and Asian projects practice, is set to join Shearman’s London office after five years as a partner at the UK firm.

The hire follows Shearman’s acquisition of Paris projects partner Christophe Asselineau (4 April 2011).

It also comes after projects partner and former London chief Kenneth MacRitchie left Shearman for UK Green Investments late last year (22 December 2011).

Inglis is one of a number of partners to arrive at Shearman from Ashurst, after real estate partner and former Ashurst managing partner Ian Nisse (3 September 2004) and a finance team including future London head Anthony Ward and partner Stephen Mostyn-Williams in 1998.
