Shearman & Sterling has represented Credit Suisse as the sole bookrunner in the $750m (£429.6m) offering of US dollar bonds by the Vietnamese government.
The deal is Vietnam's first international bond offering and marks the country's entrance into international capital markets.
Shearman's Hong Kong-based Asia managing partner and capital markets partner Matthew Bersani led the team on the transaction.
"This is a significant step for Vietnam in its market liberalisation and economic progression," he said. "The landmark transaction will hopefully open up the Viet-nam market for other complex offerings in the future."
Other syndicate members included Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, JPMorgan, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley and Nomura.
The Shearman team was supported by Tokyo capital markets associate Robert Ferguson and Hong Kong capital markets associate Jennifer Peng.
