SHE flies through the air with the greatest of ease... then goes and takes down details from suspects at police stations.

Solicitor Lucy Morgan ran away to the circus at the age of 25. Three years on, she is about to start her second term in trapeze at one of the world's most prestigious circus schools.

And in between terms at Canada's L'Ecole National de Cirque, she goes back to her first profession, working as a freelance legal aid lawyer in London.

Morgan, whose father Leon is a partner at West End media firm Davenport Lyons, is the only English pupil attending the school and one of only about 12 trapeze artists involved in "new" circuses in the world.

And her boyfriend, her catcher at the London circus school - Circus Space - where she trains out of term, is a trainee barrister.

She did her articles at Lewis Silkin in London and moved to its Peckham office, now Glazer Delmar. She still acts for Glazers, mainly in immigration and police station work.

The switch was easy to make. "It's not that I don't like the law. Because I enjoyed the work. But I have found my passion and that's rare in life," she says.

And she recommends the change to others. "What I want to say to lawyers is you have to live your dream and live your life."

Circus Space recently moved to a refurbished electricity generating station with pro bono legal help from City firm Slaughter and May.
