Washington’s Shaw Pittman is attempting to grab a slice of lucrative Greater China-based IP and litigation work by opening an office in Taiwan.
The firm has recruited Yitai Hu, the former managing partner of US-based Finnegan Henderson Farabow Garrett & Dunner’s Taipei office, to open an office in the region.
Shaw Pittman is hoping its new Taipei office will act as a gateway into the Greater China region, specifically People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong. At the same time Shaw Pittman is strengthening its global IP practice by establishing an office in Silicon Valley, adding to its presence in Los Angeles.
The firm has also taken on Steven Adkins from Washington’s Adduci Mastriani & Schaumberg to join its litigation and IP department.
