US firm Shaw Pittman has opened an office in Taipei and launched a strategic alliance with Taiwanese firm Chien Yeh Law Offices.
Partner Yitai Hu joined Shaw Pittman in April and will head the Taipei office, which will primarily be advising clients on intellectual property issues.
"We're here today because we believe the future of technology in Asia starts in Taiwan, where already, the vast majority of the world's laptop and desktop computers are manufactured," said Stephen Huttler, managing partner of Shaw Pittman.
Chien Yeh Law Offices was founded in 1972 and now has 20 lawyers spread through its offices in Taipei, Taichung and Kaoshiung. This is Washington DC-headquartered Shaw Pittman’s sixth office after DC, London, New York, Northern Virginia and California.
