The London office of US firm Shaw Pittman has been decimated by the departure of a third of its partners, including joint managing partner and founder of the London office Andrew Moyle.
Moyle is leaving for Latham & Watkins and, as first revealed on www.the lawyer.com/lawyernews (9 May), partner Jennifer Mattingly is joining Pillsbury Winthrop.
Ironically, Moyle indicated his desire to leave just 24 hours after his joint managing partner Alistair Maughan had presented a new strategy plan for London at the Shaw Pittman partner retreat.
"Andrew's departure does not divert us from that," said Maughan. "The firm is committed to London, is enthusiastic about London and will continue to invest in it."
Maughan said the London partners had been reviewing their strategies for three months and that recruitment plans were already underway before the two partners announced their departures.
Shaw Pittman, which is renowned for its IT outsourcing expertise, is left with just two IT partners (Maughan and David Skinner) and two corporate partners (Charles Severs and Robert Bishop).
The terms of their departures are being negotiated.
