The Serious Fraud Office (SFO) has hired a barrister as its first ever general counsel, bringing in criminal and fraud specialist Vivian Robinson QC.
Robinson will take up his post in the spring, joining from barristers' chambers QEB Hollis Whiteman. Robinson was called to the Bar in 1967 and took silk in 1986.
SFO director Richard Alderman said: "That someone of his experience and quality wants to join the SFO is a testament to the high regard in which the SFO is held. I'm determined that the SFO will lead the field in the investigation and prosecution of serious fraud."
Robinson's previous cases include work for a defendant in the Hatfield rail crash case and he regularly appears on behalf of the General Medical Council in disciplinary matters.
