WILDE Sapte's first full-time managing partner is retiring from the partnership to apply his management skills to a consultancy firm.

Philip Brown became management partner at the City firm in 1988 and stood down last year to make way for Steven Blakeley.

Brown, who is currently on sabbatical, was unavailable for comment. He will join Hodgart Temporal & Co, which advises on strategic and management issues, at the end of September.

Wilde Sapte praised him for successfully seeing the firm through "formidable growth" which saw it double in size and open five new international offices.

Senior partner Charles Leeming said Brown had made an "enormous contribution" to the firm.

"We are all sorry to see him leave, but recognise that his move into consultancy represents a logical progression for him in applying the management skills he so successfully displayed here. He will bring great experience and value to his new role."
