Senior lawyers appointed to EU securities taskforce

Lawyers from Baker & McKenzie, Clifford Chance, Linklaters and Travers Smith have been appointed to the European Commission’s European securities markets experts group.

The group is tasked with looking at how EU securities directives work in practice, determine whether or not they are delivering the intended results, and propose changes where necessary.

Bakers partner María Gracia Rubio de Casas, Clifford Chance partner Chris Bates, Linklaters partner Sebastián Albella Amigo and Travers partner Margaret Chamberlain have been appointed to the 20-member group.

The group's appointment on 15 June is a follow up action to the European Commission's White Paper on Financial Services 2005-2010.

It will help the Commission review the existing securities framework, as well as provide it with input for the reports on the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), the Prospectus Directive, the Market Abuse Directive and the Transparency Directive.
