Segro and Blemain win new in-housers

The slowdown in the real estate sector has not stopped in-house activity, with property investment companies ;Segro ;and Blemain Group appointing new general counsel.

Segro has hired Elizabeth Blease to head its legal team from building materials manufacturer Marshalls, where she was company secretary. Blease takes over from John Probert, who is retiring after 18 years at Segro.

Meanwhile, Manchester-based real estate lender Blemain Group has taken on its first group legal director, appointing Anis Waiz to the role. Waiz joins from niche property firm Field Cunningham & Co, where he was an associate. He specialises in real estate litigation and will be responsible for driving the company’s legal strategy.

Waiz said: “I’m looking forward to developing my role at Blemain Group and helping to ensure that best practice and commerciality remain ;at ;the ;core ;of our business.”
