SEC enforcement chief returns to Wilmer Cutler

Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale & Dorr is celebrating after securing the return of former partner and former Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) director of enforcement Stephen Cutler.

Cutler is returning to his old firm after leaving the SEC in May to return to private practice. He will co-chair Wilmer Cutler ‘s securities department based in Washington.

He was a partner at Wilmer Cutler until January 1999, when he left to join the SEC as deputy director of the enforcement division. He was later named director of the enforcement division in October 2001.
