FORMER Denton Hall managing partner Geoffrey Searle has left the firm to set up his own niche planning practice in London.
Searle leaves Denton Hall after 20 years, where he led the planning team from 1973 until 1988. He was then managing partner until 1992.
Searle says the new firm is the first of its kind in the capital. "There is room for the set-piece performance of the expensive, larger firms as well as the subtle, personal approach of an experienced individual practitioner," he says.
He adds: "I left Denton Hall because I always like to have challenges in life and my career had got to the point where the firm could not offer me interesting enough challenges any more."
Searle says he turned down several job offers to go solo. "I talked to professionals and clients in the property industry and they told me that there was a need for this kind of practice."
His first clients are landowners, developers and an NHS Trust. Other law firms have asked him to provide back-up work for them.
