Mohamed Al Fayed v former Tory minister Neil Hamilton. Hamilton, represented by Desmond Browne QC of 5 Raymond Buildings, is suing Al Fayed, represented by George Carman QC of New Court Chambers, for defamation over comments he made during a Channel 4 Dispatches documentary about the alleged cash-for-questions affair that finished Hamilton's political career. The case is being heard in Court 13 of the Royal Courts of Justice, packed to the rafters with journalists and spectators. Highlights so far have included the sacking of any potential jurors who are Fulham supporters (Al Fayed is club chairman), and reversing the order of appearances so the defendant appears first. Challenges to Al Fayed's name and his date of birth are expected.
