Scottish councils finalise panel reviews

TWO SCOTTISH local authorities have completed panel reviews, with a mixture of Scottish and UK firms winning places.

Midlothian Council has hired Anderson Strathern on debt recovery, judicial reviews and licensing appeals work. It takes over from Morton Fraser. Brodies has been retained for employment, construction, planning and litigation work that cannot be carried out in-house. Both firms are appointed for three years.

Midlothian will go off-panel for significant work. Pinsent Masons is currently advising both Midlothian and Edinburgh councils on the Zero Waste project, which will involve the construction of a waste treatment plant by a private sector entity.

Meanwhile, East Renfrewshire Council has hired Pinsents, Dundas & Wilson and Shepperd & Wedderburn to advise on areas including property development and construction.
