When the British Legal Association gave evidence to the Royal Commission on Legal Services some 20 years ago, it suggested the establishment of solicitors property centres based on the model present in Scotland.
I have never heard it suggested then, or since, that Scottish solicitors occupied a lower moral ground than those practising in England and Wales.
In fact, one of the strongest arguments in favour of solicitors property centres was the likelihood of increased safeguards to customers, as a result of the stringent professional regulation of those solicitors who were responsible for running the various centres.
