New York firm LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae is taking on a team of partners from Salans Hertzfeld & Heilbronn to ramp up its emerging companies practice.
The team is headed by the co-chair of Salans' global high-tech practice group Wayne Matus. He is joined by partners John Mancini and Jeffrey Schweon. The three join the firm's i-business/emerging companies practice. Matus will become co-chair of LeBoeuf's intellectual property litigation practice with head of i-business Vivian Polak.
The moves are a blow to Salans in New York, which in February lost another two partners to the New York office of Canadian firm Torys.
Matus says he moved because of LeBoeuf's more international outlook. LeBoeuf has 14 US offices and practises in 10 other countries; Salans has offices in New York, Paris, London and Eastern Europe.
Matus says: "Salans is a wonderful firm and they're very internationally-focused. I have clients that are internationally-focused and clients that are focused in the US. [LeBoeuf], though, is a truly global firm and has both a US and an Asian presence - it's much more global."
