Salans evicts Saatchi Gallery

Salans has won a High Court victory evicting the Saatchi Gallery from its home in London’s former County Hall.

This morning (Friday 21 October) Sir Donald Rattee ruled that the gallery had broken the terms of its lease and had trespassed on areas it had not rented, and ordered that it must leave County Hall.

Senior partner Lionel Rosenblatt was acting on behalf of County Hall’s owners Shirayama Shokusan and landlords Cadogan against the gallery, which trades as Danovo.

At a costs hearing, due to take place shortly, Cadogan and Shirayama will seek an order asking that the gallery bears the full cost of the litigation.

Rosenblatt instructed Maitland Chambers’ Christopher Pymont QC. Tarlo Lyons partner Sarah Rees, instructing Falcon Chambers’ Jonathan Gaunt QC, acted for Danovo.
