Salans adds Moscow competition head from Baker & McKenzie

Salans has turned to Baker & McKenzie for the hire of a new competition head in Moscow.

Marat Mouradov joins the European firm as a partner and head of the competition department in Moscow.

He has been recruited from Baker & McKenzie, where he had been a partner since 2007.

The competition team in Salans’ Moscow office was previously managed by office managing partner Mathieu Fabre-Magnan and Brussels-based partner Edward Borovikov. Mouradov’s appointment is designed to further Salans’ efforts in developing a strong Russian and EU competition law practice.

Salans has been recruiting across its international offices in the past few months, with lateral hires for Madrid (19 October 2011) and Paris (4 November 2011 and 15 December 2011), as well as signing a new Turkish alliance (12 January 2012).

However the firm suffered the loss of Moscow tax partner Evgeny Timofeev to Goltsblat BLP last summer (27 July 2011).
