The Lawyer Global Litigation Top 50 report is the only ranking of international law firms by litigation and arbitration revenue and is essential reading for anyone seeking to benchmark their litigation and dispute resolution practices...
This year, The Lawyer’s annual ranking of the largest UK law firms by turnover is available as an interactive, digital benchmarking tool. For the first time this will allow you to manipulate each data set against the metrics of your choice.
This despite the fact that the firm hasn’t made any, and has no immediate plans to do so.
However, real estate accounts for 40 per cent of the business, and Trowers lawyers are as aware as anybody of the wider economic conditions affecting that sector.
To date 817 jobs have been culled in the UK 200 firms - the vast majority of those are in real estate.
Trowers’ results were up at the half year and its real estate department is boosted by social housing work and a strong public sector element (TheLawyer.com, 4 November ).
Nevertheless, senior partner Jonathan Adlington tells me that he spends a lot of time bringing the message home to staff.
“I had lunch with all the support staff recently and let them know that things are alright. Some secretaries are worried that they are going to be made redundant, but I made it clear that’s not the case here.”
Inevitably the firm is having to watch its costs. Its only sensible to do so. But Adlington was very keen to emphasise that this will be by reducing external recuitment rather than eliminating bonuses.
And for those that love crap jokes, plastic jewellery and photocopying their nether regions at 3am, they’ll be pleased to hear that, unlike at Olswang, the Christmas party is still on.
