D’Costa, who was an associate at Freshfields and who joins Sackers in the same role, will work alongside Sackers partner Edward Hayes, whose experience includes winding-up schemes and transitioning defined benefit to defined contribution schemes. Hayes is also chief executive of the firm’s independent pension trustee company.
At Freshfields D’Costa was part of the pensions team and gave advice on a number of issues, such as the Pension Protection Fund, age discrimination and tax simplification. He also assisted on investment aspects on issues ranging from derivatives to reducing future liabilities.
According to Hayes, this kind of experience makes D’Costa a perfect fit at Sackers, which focuses on advising on pensions-related matters.
