Lovells equity capital markets partner Stephen Jones will quit the firm to take up an in-house post at longstanding client SABMiller.
Lovells corporate partner Stephen Jones will quit the firm to take up an in-house post at longstanding client SABMiller.
Jones has advised SABMiller for the past 15 years, with a career highlight coming in 2001 when he advised the brewing company on its acquisition of certain Honduran beverage assets from Dole Foods, as well as on the establishment of a joint venture with Groupo Agrisal in El Salvador.
When he joins SABMiller in late summer, Jones will take on the role of deputy general counsel for M&A, working alongside general counsel John Davidson, also a former Lovells partner, and Stephen Shapiro, another deputy general counsel at the company, who also previously worked at Lovells.
Wishing Jones well for the future, Lovells managing partner David Harris said the firm will continue to work with him via the longstanding relationship with SABMiller.
Davidson said: "We use Lovells because of its excellent understanding of our business and proactive approach. The firm has a great track record with us and there's no doubt that our working relationship with Lovells will continue to thrive after Stephen joins us later in the summer."
