Ropes’ UK team visits US HQ for City powwow

Ropes & Gray’s newly hired London team is visiting the firm’s US headquarters this week to draw up plans for the development of the London arm and to sign up a number of secondees.
Partners Maurice Allen, Mike Goetz and Jonathan Bloom will meet with partners at the firm’s Boston headquarters as well as at its New York office.
Last month (22 October) TheLawyer.com revealed that debt finance partners Allen and Goetz were hired by Ropes to launch its first European office in the City. Finance partner Bloom joined the firm later the same week from White & Case.
Ropes is now in the process of formalising which partners and associates will be seconded to the office as the firm attempts to strengthen its ties with private equity clients this side of the Atlantic.
The firm has longstanding relationships with a number of private equity houses, including Bain Capital and TPG.
