THOMSON Snell & Passmore claims to be the
UK's oldest firm, having been established in
1570. Its results for 2005-06 suggest it is not
living in the past, but could perhaps benefit
from some up-to-date thinking.
Turnover was up by just £600,000, or 3.5
per cent, on last year - below the average
increase of 5.8 per cent. However, at the halfyear
mark the firm reported that turnover was
up by 16 per cent, with particular growth from its corporate and commercial teams.
Thomson Snell is now on a recruitment drive.
In the past six months it has recruited lawyers
who previously worked with magic circle firms
Allen & Overy and Linklaters.
The Tunbridge Wells-based firm also opened
its second office, at Northfleet, Thames
Gateway, during 2005.
