MOST firms in The Lawyer Rising 50 would
be happy to top the revenue table, but not
ASB Law.
The firm's revenue fell by £600,000 from last
year to £17.6m, pushing it out of The Lawyer
UK 100 Annual Report.
In a period where the average Rising 50 firm
has grown by around 5 per cent, ASB shrank
by a little more than 3 per cent.
Partner losses have hit ASB hard. In 2005 the
firm lost five partners to Goodman Derrick,
including its head of private client and family
Ursula Danagher.
But the firm sees 2005 as a year of
rationalisation and intends to rebuild in 2006
and 2007.
The firm hopes to perform better next year.
The average age of the partnership is less than
40 and the senior management's plan is to
clear the way to let the young partners get
more business.
A policy of hiring senior associates from City
firms to bulk up in areas such as corporate
finance, property and employment could see a
younger, hungrier firm next year.
