NELSONS is growing slowly but surely,
increasing revenue by £900,000 last year to
break the £16m barrier.
The firm is in the process of restructuring its
business, moving away from its traditional
high street roots to focus on corporate
transactions and commercial property.
In June 2006 Nelsons' 63-strong legal aid
crime department moved to Cartwright King.
The firm’s partnership numbers have fallen by
around 20 per cent in the past five years, but
is still The Rising 50's largest partnership
according to figures at the end of the financial
year.
Managing partner Tim Hastings said the
split is now 60-40 in favour of commercial
work, with small and medium-sized enterprises
in the East Midlands forming the main target
market.
Nelsons is looking to recruit to boost numbers
at a junior to mid associate level, but it wants
to grow the partnership organically.
Hastings said the firm is expecting higher
rates of growth in the future as the restructuring
and focus on more profitable work takes effect.
