Richards Butler has come out on top this week following a competitive tender to become legal adviser on commercial matters to property services group Trillium.
The City-based firm will also offer day-to-day advice in other areas, including intellectual property, competition, insurance and property.
Mark Duckworth, head of legal at Trillion, says: "We conducted a rigorous selection process and were impressed by Richard Butler's client-focused approach which complements Trillium's commit- ment to service delivery.
"Richards Butler also provided a good fit with Freshfields, with whom we continue to have an excellent relationship."
In 1997, Trillium won the prime contract to own, manage and maintain the Department of Social Security's buildings. The contract began in April 1998 when 650 DSS buildings were transferred to Trillium, making it one of the UK's largest real estate holders. It has over 600 employees in 40 offices across the country.
Richards Butler head of commercial disputes group Roger Parker says: "We are delighted to have been chosen from such a strong group of firms."
