Richards Butler partners to vote on merger in New Year

Partners at Richards Butler are expected to vote in January over whether to proceed with the firm's proposed merger with Theodore Goddard.

Last month the tripartite talks with Denton Hall broke down over the integration of Denton Hall and Richards Butler's Hong Kong offices.

Theodore Goddard continued talks with Richards Butler and now, The Lawyer understands, partners at Richards Butler are expected to receive the final proposal before Christmas. The vote on whether to proceed would take place in early January.

If the merger goes ahead, the new firm is expected to retain both buildings but move staff so equivalent departments can share offices.
