In the past three years Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC) has hired eight laterals compared with seven internal promotions. Both lateral and internal promotions have slowed recently, with only one promoted last year (the only product liability specialist in three years), but there were two lateral hires. This compares with the boom year of 2004-05 when the partnership expanded by seven – four internals and three laterals.
Insurance, litigation and construction have benefited the most, although the two 2005-06 internal promotions were both in corporate.
