Twelve UK firms have top equity partners on more than £1m, up from eight last year as the top end of the market benefits from record transactional levels in 2006-07. The figures are revealed in the publication of The Lawyer UK 200 Annual Report, out on 3 September.
The firms are largely a mixture of global elite and silver circle City practices, namely: Allen & Overy, Ashurst, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Clifford Chance, Dickson Minto, DLA Piper, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Linklaters, Macfarlanes, SJ Berwin, Slaughter and May and Travers Smith.
However, Slaughter and May is the only firm at which the entire partnership is on more than £1m. Plateau partners at the firm, who constitute well over two thirds of the partnership, made £2.03m, while first-year equity partners broke the £1m barrier for the first time.
