LPC students opposed to deferring contracts

Comment

Welcome to the recession Speaking as someone who did her training contract during the last recession, I had to smile when I heard the LPC student's suggestion that she would have to be paid £17K to defer. Not someone I would offer a TC to since she clearly has no understanding of current economic realities. If you have to defer, you have to defer. That's life. Far better to get decent experience during your TC, than to be surfing the net and then let go at the end because you have no skills. The days of the trainees' market are over. Trainees and potential trainees will have to live with that. If you have a TC, you are very lucky. If you have to defer, you are still lucky. You will at least become a solicitor one day, unlike the majority in the bottle neck of LPC students graduating with no prospects and a mountain of debt. By the way, to the LPC student who wants £17K to defer, that's more than the SRA minimum wage for trainees...
