other allegations From elsewhere on the web I read of allegations that [media company] (who did not produce these films but merely bought the rights to them), themselves uploaded [a film] onto p2p websites in full knowledge that they would then be downloaded. This has allegedly been done with the specific intention of sending out this kind of letter to those who download the material. But for gloss of copyright law, one could almost envisage allegations that firms were in on some kind of extortion racket...
