Vapid response? FSA shortcomings

FSA Shortcomings One hopes (though with little confidence) that the FSA - if it indeed engages the higher quality staff it has alluded to - will dismiss those of inadequate quality and hence save on costs to its heavily fee-taxed customers. However, as an unacknowledged branch of the Civil Service (sort-of 'privatised government') and with even better and more expensive to provide terms and conditions of employment, this 'above the law' organisation flaunts its ability to make its own rules. We surely recognised how the previous Prime Minister was subject to a rather insultingly toned reply by the FSA to his published thoughts on their attitudes and behaviour a few years ago? Finally, I am surprised that lawyers appear to have little zeal to challenge an organisation that places itself above UK law (yes, of course Parliament made it so for goodness knows what reason, but surely constant and consistent legal pressure could bring about a rethink and change?) Thoughts?
